نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Eslicarbazepine acetate (ESL) is a third-generation anti-seizure drug used in patients with focal-onset seizures. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ESL for treatment epilepsy real-world clinical setting. Methods From March 2022 April 2023, medical records who were prescribed at Gyeongsang National University Changwon Hospital analyzed. Efficacy outcomes assessed based on seizure frequency, while included occurrence adverse events. Results In total, 93 analysis. Over 1-year follow-up period, demonstrated significant reduction frequency. Seventy (75.3%) achieved freedom (including 19 seizure-free more than 1 year before taking ESL) 78 (86.7%) experienced reduction. Adverse events reported 16 (17.2%), most commonly observed being hyponatremia (5.4%), dizziness (4.3%), aggravation (3.2%), somnolence (2.2%). Conclusions this setting, sustained reducing frequency over treatment. The overall profile was acceptable. Hyponatremia occurred higher previously known but improved after discontinuation or drug. These findings support use as an effective well-tolerated option long-term practice. Key words: Anticonvulsants; Treatment outcome; Safety; Epilepsy.

OBJECTIVES There is limited clinical evidence for comparison between oxcarbazepine (OXC) and eslicarbazepine acetate (ESL) in terms of tolerability, or how to execute the change from OXC to ESL. We report the process of transitioning patients with focal epilepsy from previous OXC treatment to ESL due to tolerability problems. The rationale for change from OXC is reported, and the outcome with r...
